Banksman (Reversing Assistant)
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reports that over 5000 accidents involving transport in the workplace occur annually, and about 50 of these are fatal. A quarter of those deaths are directly linked to reversing vehicles.
Banksman (Reversing Assistant)
The HSE has issued detailed advice, including the recommendation to avoid reversing manoeuvres for HGVs or mobile plant wherever possible.
But when reversing cannot be avoided, it suggests using a banksman or marshal to direct vehicles, and / or consider CCTV systems to help drivers see behind the vehicle.
The course is 3 hours and covers the following:
